God's Sovereignty, Our Hope

And just like that, 2019 is history we are in 2020.

To say 2019 went by quickly is an understatement. I don't know how we got to December 2019 and now in January 2020, but we are here now and with it comes expectations.

Each of us has a story and memories of 2019; and I bet it is not all positive, nor all negative but a bit of both. 2020 will be the same even if we do not know the details and so the questions is, WHY HAVE HOPE? if it will be the same mixed bag of good and bad - why not just brace yourself and ride the waves as they come? Because whatever happens is not random. It is never random. Nothing is ever random. GOD IS SOVEREIGN AND 100% in charge.

What difference does that make? It is assurance that He is in control and knows the detail of what will happen, how it will happen, when it will happen and most importantly, that he is able to make all things work for your good:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Why is he able to make ALL THINGS work for your good - not just the good but also to make the bad work for your good. BECAUSE HE IS SOVEREIGN.

Sovereign = having the highest power

(Cambridge Dictionary)

God has the highest power and so even, when through your own actions or other powers, things do not go well, God's highest power is able to intervene to make it turn out for good. And that same power is able to give you the good things of life - health, success, peace, joy, wealth, etc.

And so as you plan and give 2020 your best and work hard and face the mountains and valleys and victories and defeats; In the moments of happiness and sadness, joy and discouragement, all of which are bound to come your way, HAVE HOPE IN GOD, that in and by his sovereignty, He is rooting for you and will cause all things to work together for your good!

Happy New Year & may we hope relentlessly in the Sovereign Lord through 2020!

‘See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm’

Isaiah 40:10a
